Have you ever watched the evening fade into darkness and the stars appear one by one then in pairs and groups until all the heavens above are alight? This is a favourite pastime in summer, but an even more glorious experience on a frosty night in the northern woods. Add in the chance of the northern lights dancing in bands of colour across the starfield, and there’s no where I’d rather be. Provided I am properly dressed of course!

The Stars Come Out Cowl is a thick, soft homage to frosty nights in the north woods and the aurora borealis dancing through the stars. Worked using the double knitting technique, it is a completely reversible project with two soft layers of reflected star and sky colours to keep you warm through the deepest winter. Follow the stripe colours suggested in the pattern, or use a combination of two solids, a solid and a variegate, or any number of stripy scraps.
