ERRATA: Any copy of this pattern downloaded before 9 a.m. CEST 17 April 2019 lacks an explanation in the symbol key for the slk2p (inverted V with 3 legs). This has been updated in v2.

Stars in Springtime is a half-pi shawl designed as a study in Estonian gathered stitches and nupps.

The pattern assumes that you can read charts, cast on provisionally, and have some experience knitting lace. Links are provided for 2 techniques to work nupps. There are detailed descriptions to work the gathered stitches, as well as a photo tutorial for attaching the edging.

I make quite tight nupps and the sample shawl used under 800 m of laceweight yarn. However, you may want to have extra yarn on hand just in case. Alternatively, you can decrease yarn consumption by working 5-stitch nupps instead of 7-stitch nupps.

Thank you to my wonderful testknitter Karen!
