You can use any yarn for this project and recommended hook size on yarn label.

Here are a few recommended brands: Color Made Easy, Scarfie, Caron x Pantone (bamboo or regular), Loops and Threads Serpentine.
I prefer non-variegated for this pattern as it shows off the star stitch better than multi-colour. If using different colours of yarn (like a yarn braid) you may need 2 braids in order for your band to be made all in one colour.

This beanie works up super quick with the repetitive pattern! You can customize it to fit any sized head, and I also have a pattern for fingerless gloves that utilize the star stitch and pairs perfectly with this hat!

I would consider this an advanced beginner pattern as it is quite repetitive and pictures are included on how to perform the star stitch.
