START HERE
This is a progressive collection of four washcloth patterns for beginner knitters. They are intended to be simple and help a newbie navigate reading a pattern for the first time.
You’ll learn the knit and purl stitch, as well as the knitted cast on and standard bind off. You’ll also learn how to alternate between the knit and purl stitch on the same row. Never fear - there are videos to help you through each step!
I see questions all the time from beginners who want a place to start, a real project they can sink their teeth into. It’s important to have success early on even if there are mistakes. Once you get that first project behind you, you can really call yourself a knitter.
So START HERE, and do not give up!
Yarn
I prefer to knit washcloths with cotton yarn because they wash and dry well. Each of these patterns uses about 100 yards of worsted weight yarn. I personally used Hobby Lobby’s I Love this Cotton and was able to get two washcloths out of one skein.
These patterns have been tested by knitters with a range of experience.
