This pattern was designed as a set with the Start with a Square and Start with a Diamond hat patterns, worked up in a similar manner. ADD ALL THREE TO YOUR CART AT ONCE AND GET ONE FREE! With one skein each of worsted-weight (115 m), dk-weight (240 m), and lace-weight yarns (300 m), you should be able to make one medium size hat of each pattern. If using all three patterns, I recommend first making Start with A Diamond, then Start with A Circle, and finally, using up all your remaining yarn for Start with a Square.

This slouchy beanie is worked in a speckled dk-weight wool yarn, held together with a light pastel lace-weight suri alpaca in a broken rib stitch pattern, to create a fuzzy, warm hat. The hat begins in an unconventional top down method, where a square shape is knit flat with the two yarns held double. Stitches for the crown are then picked up around the edge of the square and worked in the round, while increased at four corners until the final hat circumference. The body of the hat is worked straight to the brim in broken rib, with two options of length to fold the brim double or triple (triple brim shown).
