Named for the start of my design journey, this asymmetrical triangle shawl is knit using a single sock set (100g main color, 20g contrast color) and 2 different sized needles.
The Startup Shawl features garter stitch sections of the main color on its own and lateral braids made by carrying the main and contrast colors together. In addition to written instructions, a link to a video (with captions available) is provided to guide the maker through the process of knitting a lateral braid.
The shawl combines gradual increases in depth and the use of 2 different needle sizes for the right and wrong sides to create a shawl with a wide wingspan and a shorter depth. This produces an item with drape and limits the amount of fabric on the neck and chest.
Grab 120g of a special fingering weight yarn or a variety of scraps that you want to play with and cast on. This design aims for you to use the entire amount of yarn to create a shawl with simple construction while also working a unique design element!
