Stash Buster Neck Warmer
Hello lovely knitters.
I designed and knitted this jewel-like, colourful, neck warmer, for practical reasons - mainly because my face got cold while I was biking to the swimming pool at 6:30am every day in the Winter and Spring and I needed to keep warm.
I also wanted the finished neck warmer to have a Persian carpet look using traditional Fair Isle motifs.
There are 8 traditional Fair Isle Motifs in this pattern using 24 stitches each and 17 rows.
Each Motif is knitted in 2 colour ways making 16 little motif charts
This pattern includes charts for all 16 motifs plus additional b/w charts, just in case you would like to colour them in using your own choices and use your stash to knit this little project. The pattern is called, Stash Buster and could be very simple because, you could knit it in only 2 colours.
It is knitted in the flat because the motifs are joined together using the intarsia method, but, if you chose to knit it in your own stash yarn using only two colours, you could knit it in the round.
If you want to use the same colours as I have, you need one ball of Spindrift in each of the following colours :–
Peat, Burnt Ochre, Sunrise, Burnt Umber, Mustard, Maroon, Daffodil, Coffee, Midnight, Sea Grass, Twilight, Granny Smith, Port Wine, Old Rose, Mantilla, Pot Pourri, Peony, Pumpkin, Camel, Clover
All charts are fully labelled so that you can knit them in the same order as this pattern.
Needles:- 2 x 2:5mm (US 1:5) and 2 x 3mm (US 2:5) circular in order to hold all the working stitches of the knitted piece but do not knit in the round. I used fine needles to get the texure and density that I love but you could increase the needle size as the gauge is not crucial for this project.
Finished Size. – when folded in half, finished size is 30cm across the bottom and 20 cm deep. If you prefer the neck warmer to be a little bigger, go up 2 needle sizes.
The neck warmer is a joy to knit for yourself or friends or family, just in time for Christmas.
I love Fair Isle motifs and wanted to knit many different ones together, and I hope that you will enjoy this beautiful pattern too.
I am excited to see your projects and am thinking of doing a knit along on the ravelry site - let me know if you would be interested
