Pattern description from One Skein: “I like to experiment with different types of yarn, playing with arrangements to create fresh and unusual combinations. That’s how I came up with the eclectic mix for this handbag, which I modeled after the shape of my favorite fabric purse. I used five different yarns, but you can use more or less, depending on what you have on hand.”

Finished Size: About 12” (30.5 cm) wide and 8” (20.5 cm) tall.

Yarn:

  • Assorted chunky-weight (CYCA Bulky #5) and DK or light worsted-weight (Light #3) yarns.
  • Bag: Trendsetter Zucca (58% tactel, 42% polyamid; 72 yd 66 m/50 g): #709 mauve; and Great Adirondack Waterfall (39% mohair, 7% wool, 54% nylon; 200 yd 182 m/100g): peacock.
  • Top trim and handles: Colinette Zanziba (50% wool, 50% viscose; 98 yd 89 m/100 g): #102 pierro (green/yellow mix); Adriafil Frou Frou (455 polyamid, 28% cotton, 27% acrylic; 82 yd 75 m/50 g): #22 yellow; and Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patine (100% combed cotton; 121 yd 110 m/50 g): #010 honey.

Needles:

  • Size 13 (9 mm): 24” (60-cm) circular (circ), size 11 (8 mm): 16” (40-cm) cir, and size 9 (5.5 mm): set of 2 double-pointed (dpn).
  • Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Stitch markers (m); tapestry needle; removable markers or safety pins; 7” (18 cm) zipper; sewing needle and matching thread for attaching zipper.
