Poufs are awesome because they remind me of the adult version of a bean bag chair! I wanted to be able to easily untie and open the crochet case so that both the stuffing and the case could be completely washed by hand or in a washing machine. Most pouf patterns will tell you to sew an inner pillow case and stuff it with fluff, but again, that just doesn’t sound sanitary over a long period of time for something that kids might be using.
