Stashbuster Hat
I made a LOT of hats recently while undergoing chemotherapy. For this one, I wanted something fun and colorful, so I started digging in my stash. I have listed the yarns I used in the sample, but the point of this hat is to use whatever bits of heavy worsted weight yarn look appealing to you!
The hat is worked in stripes of color and texture, including ribbing, cables, moss stitch, and a teeny stripe of stranded checkers.
You can carry the yarn up the back of the work between colors or cut the yarn after each color and leave ends for weaving in. Use whatever method works best for you. If desired, use your favorite method for jogless stripes.
You will need circular needles in US sizes 8 and 6, and a set of double-pointed needles in US size 8, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Yarn used in sample:
About 40 yds for color D. Slightly less for the other 4 colors.
A: Caron Simply Soft Solids, Wine Country
B: Lion Brand Heartland, Bryce Canyon
C: Lion Brand Wool- Ease, Forest Green Heather
D: Red Heart Super Saver, Country Rose
E: Lion Brand Wool, Slate Gray
If you run out of one color, feel free to add another, or rearrange colors as you like. Have fun busting that stash!
