This is my idea of the seaman’s scarf but in a bulkier yarn.

The ribbing on this scarf makes it stay put even when it is not tied, allowing one to wear it inside with maximum comfort. It’s a great pattern for men, not too fussy so they won’t wear it, but fun to make too. The short length and the stay-put ribbing at the back will convince even the most recalcitrant scarf haters among them. And of course what’s good for the gander is good for the goose as well…

There is a edging that looks fancy but is actually very easy to make, and the broken rib variation in this is very easy to remember but still gives you a lot of patterning bang for your buck so to speak.

This is also a good weekend project, as the big yarn does nearly all the work.

Hopefully you will enjoy knitting this pattern as much as I did designing it.
