My pink gear is worked in size 10 cotton thread with a 1.75 mm hook and measures 3”/8 cm wide. This would make a lovely applique.

A heavier weight yarn would be more suitable for a coaster.

The gray gear’s worked in DK weight yarn, also cotton, and a 3 mm hook. Measurement: 4 and a half inches/11 cm wide.
