Stegosaurus
From the late Jurassic period, these “covered lizards” may have lacked a bit in the brain-to-body ratio department, but are still a crowd favorite with their impressive sets of defensive bony plates and spiked tails. The body was pitched forward with the head no higher than a few feet off the ground, allowing the tail more free range to fend off a hungry Allosaurus.
Materials & Tools
- Bulky-weight yarn in green (225 yds/206m), tan (150 yds/138m), and black (10 yds/10m)
- Hook size H (5mm) or I (5.5mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Large straight or marking pins
- Polyester fiberfill
- (2) 12mm plastic safety eyes
- Stitch markers / safety pins
- Optional: 18-in. (46cm) 18-gauge paper-wrapped stem wire
