"Steigerlied" in bass clef: Music Scarf
This pattern was made on commission for a fellow Raveler. : )
This is a charted pattern for knitting the melody line of the German folk song “Steigerlied” into a two-panel scarf. The charted image is knitted onto the front panel of the scarf using stranded color work, and a back panel is knitted separately using plain stockinette stitch. The two panels are then seamed together, like a sandwich. Alternatively, the chart could be worked onto a scarf using a double-knitting technique.
This pattern is based on an arrangement of the song written in the key of G, and is available in both treble clef (Violinschlüssel) and bass clef (Bassschlüssel) versions.
-Treble Clef (available here) is more common (to the non-musician) and represents music appropriate for the piano’s right hand, flutes, oboes, soprano voices, alto voices and tenor voices.
-Bass clef represents music appropriate for the piano’s left hand, bassoons, trombones, tubas, bass guitar and bass voices.
Techniques: swatching, casting-on, binding-off, working stockinette stitch flat, stranded color work OR double-knitting, joining yarn, weaving in ends, seaming.
Please be sure to download both…
1) a set of directions: 2-page PDF including a materials list, diagram and photos. (erhältlich auf Englisch und Deutsch)
2) the chart: 9-page PDF in treble clef.
This pattern has not been test knitted because, frankly, knitting a nine-page chart is a lot of work. :)
Note: Scarf in photo depicts a different song.
