Steilküste ist ein kraus-rechts-gestrickter Cowl, der sich warm um den Hals schmiegt und verregnete Tage vergessen lässt. Durch ein kontrastreiches handgefärbtes Multicolor-Garn entsteht das lebendige Strickbild - flach im Stück gestrickt wird der Cowl am Ende mit dem Maschenstich ganz einfach zur Runde geschlossen. Die Größe kann leicht an die persönlichen Vorlieben angepasst werden.

Inspiriert ist dieser Cowl von der Steilküste an der Ostsee, an der ich aufgewachsen bin: Ihre einzigartigen Steilhänge, die von Wind und Wetter zeugen, erhält die Küste durch das stete Heranrollen der Brandung. Die kleinen Keile, die beim Stricken durch eine spezielle Wendetechnik entstehen, erinnern an das Auf und Ab einer Steilküste. Das Muster entsteht allein durch das Ändern der Strickrichtung, am Ende müssen deshalb keine Fäden vernäht werden!

Bitte vor dem Anstricken beachten: Damit das Muster besonders lebendig wirkt, ist es wichtig, dass die Farbrapporte nicht zu kurz sind. Die Farblängen pro Farbe im von mir verwendeten Garn betragen ca. 20 - 40 cm.

Verwendete Techniken: rechte Maschen, Maschen zusammenstricken, wickeln & wenden (in der Anleitung erklärt), Maschen aufnehmen und abstricken, links verschränkte Zunahmen (in der Anleitung erklärt), Maschenstich in kraus rechts (in der Anleitung erklärt.

Steilküste (Engl.: cliff coast) is a cowl in garter stitch, that makes you forget about rainy days - perfect for wrapping up in! The vivid look develops by the use of a high-contrast handpainted multicoloured yarn. The cowl is knitted flat, the ends are joined together by garter stitch grafting - very simple. The size of the cowl can be easily adjusted to your preferences.

My cowl is inspired by the cliff coast at the Baltic Sea, where I grew up: The unique scarps, that witness weather and wind, are shaped by the constant surge of waves. The small wedges, which are knitted with the help of a special technique, make me think of the ups and downs of the cliff coast. The pattern develops by changing the knitting direction - worked seemlessly in one piece, there are no troublesome threads to weave in at the end!

Please read this before you start knitting: For maximum effect make sure that the colour repeats of your yarn are not too short. The colour repeats of the Wollmeise yarn I used are 20 cm - 40 cm long (per colour).

Required techniques: knit stitches, knit into front and back, knit 2 stitches together, wrap & turn (explained in the pattern), pick up and knit stitches, make one left (explained in the pattern), garter stitch grafting (explained in the pattern).
