Stella-Lune Mitts
These mitts were designed as companions to the Dancing Stars Hat, a little Solstice season warmth for your hands and a warm & wooly way to celebrate the mid-winter return of the Sun! In shades that invoke a fleeting sunset that explodes into a winter night sky full of stars, they feature a jumbo star for the left hand and a crescent moon for the right, a shaped thumb gusset, 4-colour chain braid accents and open tops that just graze the fingertips. The 2 gauges offered are sized for adult hands, finished size fits a 6.5- 7” hand if knit in DK weight, an 8-8.5” hand if knit in worsted weight, Knit in the round. (Bonus raised increase photo tutorial included on page 6)
skill level: For experienced color knitters & good chart readers. There are never more than 2 shades per round, but there are frequent shade changes & long floats that should be locked back every 4th st. Worked from cuff to open fingertips, charts are color-coded to resemble 7 different Cascade 220 worsted heathers & solid shades in small amounts (good stash buster!) The DK version works up nicely in similar shades of Dale Heilo.
