Size… I used a 4mm hook which produced a 9″ square

Yarn… I used regular DK, and as the intended use is for a rug, I wanted something washable and hard wearing, opting for a 100% acrylic yarn.

Special Stitches and Terms…. I have written the pattern with English and American terminology….American in brackets.

Half Treble (Half Double) Crochet… Htr (Hdc)

Treble (Double) Crochet… Tr (Dc)

Double Treble (Treble) Crochet… Dtr (Tr)

Puff Stitch… Yarn over then insert hook under stitch.Draw yarn through stitch….repeat thee times until there are seven loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all seven stitches. Secure with a chain stitch.

Cluster Stitch… Yarn over and insert hook into indicated stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull up two loops. Repeat four times, and you will end up with five loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
