This cardi is the star of the wardrobe! Simple, yet elegant, chic yet cozy, sporty yet suited for a day in the office. I would have loved to have one in black - but decided to choose a lighter color for the photos.

This pattern has been fully tested

Construction The construction of the cardigan is simple, yet interesting. The fronts are worked bottom-up with moss-st panel integrated. At bust-height increases are made for sleeves, as well as for collar and worked to shoulder (where there are a few short-rows to give a soft, curved line). Fronts are assembled and sts are cast on for back neck. Back is worked top-down from neck. Very little finishing work is involved: no sleeves to set in, no stitches to be picked up for collar. There is a long seam: under-arm and side-seam, plus attatching the collar to the neck.

Sizes The pattern gives instructions for 8 sizes. Finished bust measurements are: 34/36/38/41/43.5/45.5/47.5/51”. Please note The fronts are not overlapping. If you want to close your cardigan as in the sample, you could either work a wider moss-st panel, or allow some positive ease. (Sample is made with 1.5” of positive ease).
Starting from a provisional cast-on you could easily add length to the cardigan.

Material For the sample I used Rowans Felted Tweed. Needed amount is 5/5/6/6/7/7/8/8 balls
If you add length to the cardigan you have to count for more wool.

Gauge 23 sts and 32 rows in st st = 10x10cm/4x4”

Knitting skills Abbreviations used for the pattern: k, p, yo, k2tog, p2tog, m1l, m1r. Apart from that there are short-rows using the Japanese Method, which is thouroughly explained in the pattern.

The pattern The pattern is test-knitted, revised and updated per the 17th of May 2015. There are lots of stitch-counts along the way, a schematic that helps understanding the construction of the garment (thank you Crafty-Effie:)) and helpful tips for making a classic, wearable cardigan!

I have had the great opportunity to work with 8 amazing test-knitters that have shared their skills with me:
