The Stellenbosch Crop Top is a cropped, boxy top crocheted in the granny stitch. It’s a fast, easy make – ideal for beginner crocheters new to garments. The design was inspired by my time as a student in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and the casual, bohemian style of clothing often worn by young people on campus. Though intended as a summer top, the Stellenbosch Crop Top looks great when worn as a vest over a long-sleeved top or dress, giving off major ‘retro’ vibes.

Yarn
Recommended yarn:
Moya Cotton Double Knit is recommended to achieve the pattern’s intended drape. Though this is a 100% cotton yarn, it is much lighter than many other cotton yarns on the market, at 135m per 50g.
