The Rocky Mountains of Alberta are home to the continental Steller’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri). This blue and black crested jay provides a bright splash of colour amongst the dark evergreens of the mountain forests. From its dark black head, the Steller’s Jay transitions through blue-gray to sky blue, with striping on the wing tips and tail feathers. The colour and striping of this lovely jay is the inspiration for this lace cowl.
