This shawl is worked from the bottom up increasing stitches as you go to create the stair-step shape. The lacework looks very complex but is simple enough for someone new to lace knitting.

The gauge is not critical to this piece since there is no real fit. You can easily adjust the size by adjusting the number of “stair-steps” you work. Remember, if you increase the size, you will need more yarn.
