Sterntaler is a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. The English name is „The star money.“ The fairy tale tells the story of a poor girl, that gives all she have, even her last bread and her shirt. In the night the heaven opens and the stars are falling down to her, transforming to talers (money).

The socks are knitted from cuff down. There are some long floats in the colorwork. You should be able to catch floats and work a stretchy fabric.

The pattern is written for 60, 64, 68 and 72 stitches. Depending on your size you’ll need a total of 75-100 g sock yarn. For colorwork you will need about 20 g of contrast color.

Das Märchen vom Sterntaler begleitet mich seit meiner Kindheit. Die rührende Geschichte eines armen Mädchens, das alles gibt, und es tausendfach zurückbekommt, nehme ich mir oft zum Vorbild, um Gutes zu tun.

Die Socken werden vom Bündchen zur Spitze gestrickt. Die Anleitung richtet sich an erfahrene Sockenstrickerinnen. Bündchen, Ferse und Spitze werden nicht erklärt. Der Colorwork-Abschnitt enthält einige lange Flotten. Die Technik des Einwebens sollte bekannt sein.

Die Socken können in vier Größen mit 60, 64, 68 und 72 Maschen gestrickt werden.
Je nach Größe brauchst du insgesamt 75-100 g Sockenwolle, davon ca. 20 g in Kontrastfarbe.
