Sterntaler Socks
This pattern is a free gift for those who sign up for my monthly newsletter.
Die Sterntaler is one of the Grimm’s fairytales. In it, a poor and homeless orphan gives her only possessions — her clothing and a loaf of bread — to people she encounters who are in need, leaving herself with nothing as she stands naked in the dark. Suddenly, the stars begin to fall from the sky, becoming precious coins, and she finds herself wearing a fine dress. She gave away all she had, and now finds herself rich.
The knitters in this wonderful community of ours are some of the most generous people I know. Whether you choose to make these socks to give away for for yourself (you deserve it!), I hope the gift of these socks brings you joy, comfort, and good fortune.
