This stocking cap-scarf pattern is written so that an experienced beginner can follow it. You can substitute the colors for your own. The pattern also explains how to add extra color bands if you want it to be longer than 48”, and explains how to make and add a Pompom. It has a special Criss-Cross band with foreground and background colors (red X’s on yellow background) in 3 different locations on the cap-scarf, but if I had it to do over, I would move the first Criss-Cross band a bit further toward the back of the head because it tends to squeeze the fabric inward (and therefore also your head). This cap-scarf uses 100% merino wool throughout, and is super soft and does not scratch. Obviously, you get a cap AND a scarf at the same time, with a fun Pompom at the end. This stocking cap-scarf was entered into the 2017 District Fair in Hope, Arkansas and won a First Place ribbon.
