A rectangular shaped stole.
The shape is reminiscent of the 50’s when ladies draped themselves in stoles when dressing for the evening.
No long gloves or cigarettes here, this is strictly an updated version, practical and fun to wear.
Starting at each end, two identical pieces are worked and joined in the middle.
The instructions for the lace border pattern are written; the stitches used are SSK, YO, and P4 wrap, a special
technique that is fully explained.
Experience with reading basic lace instructions and kitchener stitch are recommended.
Included in the pattern are photos, a complete list of abbreviations, and a stitch glossary.
Skill level: intermediate.

Gauge
16 sts and 22 rows = 4in/10cm in stockinette stitch pattern
The gauge recommended on the label is 22 sts = 4in/10cm, this stole is knit at a looser gauge than recommended on the label for extra drape.
Correct gauge is not critical for this project, but your final measurements and yardage requirements may vary if your gauge is different.

Pattern notes:
The stole is started from each end and joined in the middle with kitchener stitch. When working the textured lace pattern, the right side rows are even numbers. When working the striped section, the right side rows are odd numbers. The main color is worked in stockinette stitch and the contrast colors are worked in reverse stockinette stitch, both with an I-cord edging to keep the edges from rolling.

Size: Approximately 66 inches/168cm long, 14 inches/36cm wide.
