This shawl was inspired by the humble evergreen stonecrop. Stonecrop (sedum) is an easy to grow group of succulent plants that look great in any garden. Sedums are vigorous, carefree, good looking with a season of interest lasting more than half a year. There’s something simple and zen about succulents’ appearance, from the sculpted foliage to the deep green color of the leaves.
The delicate lace panel of this shawl is designed to evoke the Stonecrop foliage. The pattern repeats are easy to memorize and they break up the meditative rows of garter stitch with enough engagement for the knitter. Made in a lightweight fingering blend of cotton and wool, this triangle shawl becomes a great transitional piece throughout the seasons.
Whether you are new to shawl knitting or an experienced knitter searching for a simple calming project, this shawl is exactly what you need.
