Stony Brook is a rectangular stole featuring two complementary lace patterns. Knit with sport or DK weight cotton or cotton blends, it’s worked from one end to the other and can be made in one of three sizes: scarf, narrow stole, or wide stole.
The sample (narrow stole) was knit in Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy, a blend of hemp, cotton, and Modal. Other possible yarns include Classic Elite Cotton Bamboo or Soft Linen; Berroco NaturLin; Ella Rae Silkience; Elsebeth Lavold Silky Tweed; Knit Picks CotLin; Patons Grace; SWTC Bamboo; Frog Tree Pima Silk.
Pattern includes both written and charted instructions as well as illustrated blocking instructions.
Finished (Blocked) Measurements:
Scarf: 8.75 inches/22 cm wide by 65 inches/165 cm long
Narrow Stole: 17 inches/43 cm wide by 72 inches/182 cm long
Wide Stole: 20 inches/50 cm wide by 72 inches/182 cm long
Yardage Requirements:
Scarf: 325–350 yards/295-320m

The stole takes its name from Stony Brook on the
campus of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
