Stony Stream Hat
Choose two colors of chunky weight wool like West Wool Cargo to knit this cozy textured hat. The brim begins with 2x2 ribbing followed by stripes and cabled slip stitches. The main color is worked for four rows as you slip the contrast color stitches. The contrast color is worked for two rows with a simple cable cross to form the meandering stony stream pattern. The chunky yarn yields a plush fabric that is quick to knit and warm to wear. I recommend this hat pattern for a beginner cable project and a quick last minute gift knit. The bold stripes and textured stitches are so satisfying to knit!
Sizes:
One Size
The size is easy to customize by altering your needle size
and gauge.
Finished Measurements:
21″ / 53cm circumference, 9″ / 23cm from CO edge to top of hat. Measurements taken after blocking. The length is customizable.
The hat is shown on a 22.5″ / 57cm head circumference for a fit with negative ease. I recommend achieving a finished hat size that is 1 – 2″ / 2.5 - 5cm smaller than your actual head circumference for a fit with negative ease.
You can achieve slightly different size by adjusting your needle size and gauge. Try these needle and gauge recommendations to customize the fit of your hat.
