Storage Doll: The Maid
Stand this little lady by your basin and she will hold your rings, on her tray, while you wash your hands.
Keep her by your bed and she will look after all your jewellery while you are sleeping.
… and she has a secret! Inside is a fitted compartment for holding many more rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.
This pdf file includes detailed illustrated instructions for knitting the doll and making the doll form and internal fittings. The form is extremely quick and easy to make, using readily available materials which cost almost nothing. The original doll was knitted in DK (Double Knitting) and 4 ply yarns but includes instructions for using different yarns.
My maid is a mature lady with grey hair. You could make yours with any colour of hair or skin. The hat and apron are removable.
The completed doll is approximately 30cm (12”) tall; the jewelry compartment is more than 16cm (6.5”) high. Only the head and arms are stuffed.
