Storage Doll: The Pretty Lady
Here is a Pretty Lady to safeguard your jewellery.
She will stand by your bedside or basin waiting to carry your rings, necklaces and other jewelry in her basket
… and inside she has a secret! She hides a fitted compartment for holding many more rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.
This pdf file includes detailed illustrated instructions for knitting the doll and making the doll form and internal fittings. The form is extremely quick and easy to make, using readily available materials which cost almost nothing. The original doll was knitted in DK (Double Knitting) but includes instructions for using different yarns.
She is very elegant, with her flounced dress, curly hair and picture hat. Of course, you could make her even more ornate by adding ribbons, beads or embroidery to her outfit.
The completed doll is approximately 30cm (12”) tall; the jewelry compartment is more than 16cm (6.5”) high.
