My friend Katie wanted a wide winter scarf. She picked the colours and I found a stitch pattern that I thought she might like. When I showed it to her she said “I like it but… can you put it at an angle?”

That night I couldn’t get the idea out of my head! I grabbed some graph paper and some pencils (I have a bad habit of losing at least one pencil in my hair) and got to work. The result is a colour pattern with a fretwork pattern at an angle.
