Storms and Saints
This is a simple crescent shawl designed with cool autumn days in mind.
Increases are made at each edge of the shawl, initially on the RS only, then doubling to both the RS and WS edges.
A loose, stretchy edge is created by making yarn overs on one row and dropping them from your needle on the next row.
This basic shawl pattern generously lends itself to modifications. Add stripes or color blocks, experiment with color blending, substitute lace or textured stitches for garter, or play with combining bases.
For this pattern I used:
+/- 620 yds (567 m) of Fingering-Weight Yarn in Two Colors (305 yds (279 m) of Color A, 315 yds (288 m) of Color B)
• Pictured: Color A: Wee Chickadee Wool Company Smooshy Sock 2-ply; 80% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon/Polyamide; 400 yds (366 m)/100 g (3.53 oz); Shown in colorway ‘Willow Song’ Color B: Three Fates Yarns helios 3-ply; 60% Superwash Merino/20% Silk/20% Yak; 380 yds (347 m)/95 g (3.35 oz); Shown in colorway ‘Ursula’.
