The construction for this large shawl is unique – the body is formed using several sets of German short rows. I feel as if this gives the shawl an almost windswept appearance, drawing your eye back and forth along the lines separating the wedges.
This asymmetrical shawl is worked sideways, starting at one corner and working toward the opposite edge. It incorporates an i-cord edge along both sides of the body as you work increases along the top-most edge. Half of the triangular-shaped wedges are worked in stockinette stitch, and the rest are worked in a simple lace pattern using charts. Separating each wedge is a CC garter stripe. The shawl is finished off with a loose i-cord Bind-Off and blocked to size before adding tassels.
