Stormy Clouds is worked with a 4ply yarn which produces a light weight blanket. There is no reason why alternate yarns in different weights couldn’t be used to make a heavier blanket. Hook size and amount of yarn used would need consideration.

Suitable for advanced beginners and intermediate level. The stitches are basic the complexity is in the stitch placement.

I worked the example for the pattern with Twirls Deluxe to allow the effect of the colour changing gradient to ripple through the blanket. Rainbow Cotton 8/4 added the contrast I wanted in the border. Other yarns that would have a similar effect are Scheepjes Whirl and Whirlette. The final size detailed in the pattern could be worked with one Whirl and part of a Whirlette.

The gauge for this pattern is unimportant. Far more important for you to be happy with the overall drape of the blanket. It may be necessary to change your hook size if too loose/tight. I would suggest a trial piece with the first few rows of the pattern to check the drape.

The overall size of the blanket can be easily adjusted within the pattern. Once the pattern is established there is a three row repeat until the border pattern. The number of repeats can be adjusted to determine finished size.

I really hope you enjoy making this pattern as much as I did :)
