The original version of the Stormy Days Socks was the first pattern I ever published. It was only written for one size, so when I came to update the pattern I wanted to include more sizes and instructions for both toe up and cuff down knitting. I began knitting a toe up version of the largest size using the leftover colours from the Melting Rainbow socks and as I came to the rainbow on the leg, I knew it needed to be simple stocking stitch and not the stitch patterns of the original pattern, and so the second version 2 of the Stormy Days Socks was born.
The grey represents the stormy sky and the purl bumps the rainfall, a rainbow is knit on the leg and then reflected on the foot.
The pattern has instructions for both toe up and cuff down knitting. The socks have a wedge toe and a Wrap and Turn short row heel, however the heel and toe could easily be changed to your own choice. They are knit using the magic loop method but can be adapted to suit dpns.
