Straemsoond Hat
This hat is inspired by a traditional Fair Isle pattern, it is repeated to create a contemporary all over design, combining simple zig zags that converge at the crown and is the same motif I used on “The Good Years Hat” pattern.
Streamsoond is a stretch of water we can see from our croft that runs into Landsound, the area of sea that the yarn is named after.
It is knitted in the round in a DK weight yarn to create a cosy hat to keep those winter winds out (with optional pom pom!).
This design has been knitted using Langsoond DK Shetland wool, this yarn has been spun from fleeces our own Shetland sheep and from neighbouring crofts. The quantity of each batch is limited but the following yarns can be used as an alternative for this pattern:
Uradale Yarns Double Knit Organic undyed yarn
Uradale Double Knit Weight Organic Yarn
Blacker British Classic Double Knitting Yarn
