Details: Straight as an Arrow uses a cable pattern (both charted and written) that is simple but interesting enough to keep you going for ‘one more round’. By changing the number of rounds in the cable chart the hat can have two different looks as the pink and brown samples show. The simplicity of each version works well for variegated yarns. I designed it to be knit without a cable needle and provide instructions on how to do that. More on that technique can be found on Knitty scroll down to the ‘Cabling without a cable needle’ section. Instructions are given on how to modify the hat for a less slouchy fit.

Size: S, M, L. Finished measurements are 16”, 18”, 20” circumference and 9.5” tall.

Fit: This pattern is designed to be worn with 1-2 inches of negative ease. So the largest size should fit a head circumference of up to 22 inches. Adjustments to make it larger are easily made within the pattern.

Yarn: ~1/2 hank Dragonfly Fibers Traveller (approx 160 yds) shown in Coleus (pink hat) and That Ol’ Chestnut (brown hat) colorways

Needle: 1 set US #7 / 4.5mm DPNs or 1 long circular

P.S. Hang on to the rest of this ball of yarn because there will be a pattern update with something small and stylish to match.
