I am happy to introduce to you Ferguson Frog!

This pattern was designed to bring delight to even the beginner knitter by using only 4 basic stitches: Knit, Purl, K2TOG (to decrease) and KFB (to increase). A visual glossary is included to give the knitter a quick reminder on stitches and techniques.

On each row involving an increase or decrease in stitches, you will find how many stitches should be left on your needles in (italicized parenthesis) at the end of each row, helping the knitter make sure they are still on the path to success!

You will also find that most redundant rows are still written out individually, making it easy for even beginning knitters to simply cross off each completed row as they go along to easily keep track of where they left off.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
For both Ferguson Frog and his clothes, choose worsted weight (weight 4) yarns. I used Wool of the Andes Worsted from Knit Picks for all portions of this project. One skein of yarn is sufficient for each portion (color) of this project. Use 3.00 mm (US 2.5) straight knitting needles for all of the frog’s body, and switch to 3.75 mm (US 5) straight knitting needles for your frog’s clothes.

You will also want a small amount of fiberfill to stuff your frog with. My favorite fiberfill for soft toys is wool. It’s a lovely natural material that holds its shape very well over the years, and adds weight and warmth to your soft toy.

Lastly, you’ll want a tapestry needle for sewing your pieces together, and two buttons (20 – 25 mm) for Ferguson’s vest.

Ferguson Frog measures about 17” tall. For more information on Ferguson, please follow the link to my website, Quiet Life Farm.
