Straina Shawl

This shawl is inspired from Outlander, but I played with alternating stockinette and garter stitches to make it more interesting.
The language is English and all measurements are given in centimeters and inches. All my patterns are using Calibri font size 13 in black on white, so they are accessible and easy to read on different screens and when printed. All abbreviations and acronyms are explained in the pattern.
The pattern is suitable for beginners, after they have learned the basics (knit, purl and increase).
It is knitted top to bottom and can be made in any size. It works well with any kind of yarn. You can make it for winter, using bulky yarn, or for summer, using fingering- or lace-weight yarn.
You will need long circular needles. The two diagonal sides of the shawl will be knitted in one row, which means you will have many stitches on the needles at some point. I recommend circular needles of at least 120 cm (47 inches) long (longer if you are trying to make a large shawl).
Based on the yardage of my own shawl, I estimate the following amounts necessary (if you use the same weight of yarn - chunky) for different sizes:
- XS: 370 m / 410 yd
- S: 530 m / 580 yd
- M: 730 m / 800 yd
- L: 950 m / 1040 yd (this is the size of the shawl in my photos)
- XL: 1220 m / 1335 yd
If you like my shawls, you can get all 3 of them for the price of 2. See the bundle here: https://www.ravelry.com/bundles/shawls-478070
