This is a Fair Isle hat that teaches a knitter how to work within their own gauge and establish a pattern that fits beautifully. I’ve included all the necessary math so that this can be easily achieved. In addition to a written pattern, colored charts are also provided. To help the knitter work through new techniques, links have been included where needed to my video tutorials on my website, Knitting with Nancy Wynn (www.wynnknit.com). For the sample hat, I used 5 total hanks of Weepaca yarn by BigBad Wool. Any light worsted weight yarn is suitable but I enjoy the softness of the Weepaca. You will need a total of 5 hanks for an adult size hat (2 for the base and 1 of each contrast color). A small child or baby hat will only require 4 hanks (1 for the base and 1 of each contrast color). There is easily enough contrast color to do 2 to 3 hats.
