Strandkorb
This sweater is a summery piece designed for a sunny day on the beach, bot not too hot, with a bit of wind, maybe at the North Sea or the Baltic sea. Its stripes reminded me of the German Strandkorb: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strandkorb
(There is no translation for it, but it can be described as a kind of basket with a big seat - like shown in one of the images.)
It is knitted top-down using the YoRa” construction (as in my “Junimond”), i.e. Raglan increases in the back and yoke increases spread evenly over the rest of the row, to shape a deeper front neck.
To enhance this effect, Stockinette in the back is combined with Garter in the front, so no single short row is needed and the stripes on the yoke are not getting interrupted. On the lower part of the body, the Garter on the front makes it shorter than the back.
The sweater is available in sises S-XL = 46-59cm (half bust circumference).
The pattern calls for light fingering yarn in two matching colors, with 850–1100m of main color (MC) and 200–300m of contrast color (CC) needed, plus leftovers (<50 meters each) in similar material and gauge in 1 or 2 different colors for the edges.
Skill level:
**** (4 out of 5) – advanced: because you need to pay some attention when to work Stockinette and when to work Garter, and you will use different increase techniques in parallel to shape the yoke.
The yarn company of one of the suggested yarns has recently changed its name: from Regenbogenschaf to SKUDDERIA.
