Strandlines Cowl
The Strandlines Cowl is a deep, textured cowl with the Basalt series construction. Cozy and unisex, it knits up fairly quickly in bulky yarn, and the smaller size can be made in one skein of the yarn shown when it’s knit at gauge.
Gauge:
Gauge is about 13 sts and 19 rows over 4”/10cm of lightly blocked stockinette. Please be sure to check your gauge.
Measurements:
As shown, knit in the smaller, original, shown-in-the-sample-photos version, this cowl measures 13”/33cm deep, about 17”/43cm wide at the base, and 13“/33cm wide at the top. This version of the pattern is written for the smaller size, but includes the larger size as an option. .
Materials:
About 280-300 yards of Red Heart Gemstone for the smaller size; add an extra skein for the larger version
1 24” circular needle in US10/6.0mm, or size needed for gauge
2 DPNs in the same size as above (optional; these may make the i-cord bindoff easier by eliminating a need to slip stitches back onto the lefthand circular needle. On the other hand, then you’ve got to keep track of 2 DPNs, so it’s a wash).
4 stitch markers
Tapestry needle
The two versions of this cowl mean that you can (without doing any extra math or adjusting) make a cowl the same size and dimensions as the samples shown, or a cowl that’s larger knit, at the same gauge. You can also knit this project at a smaller gauge in worsted yarn, but knitting it at a smaller gauge make make it advisable to check the dimensions of the first part or try it on as you go to make sure the size suits you.
