Strata
Strata is a cowl inspired by the striations of color in the rocky cliffs and sandy beaches along the Northern California coast. Strata has two versions: Mountain and Sand. Depending on the yarn thickness and colors you choose, you can achieve dramatically different, but equally stunning results. The Mountain cowl, designed with one color of bulky yarn, is a bold, quick knit. The Sand cowl, designed with two low-contrast colors of sport weight yarn, is more delicate. Both Mountain and Sand are knit in the round in helical stripes (like the stripes of a barber pole) to create a seamless cowl that’s beautiful even on the “wrong” side.
The instructions are written and charted.
JenAcknitwear’s video tutorial on knitting helical stripes is terrific. Find it here: https://youtu.be/Eo7NOQ6PpsY
