Alternating waves of twisted stitches
add a rhythmic texture to this classic
pullover with set-in sleeves. The twisted
stitch columns form gentle ripples that
are not quite ribs, creating a fabric that
skims rather than clings, and a fit that
flatters, without added waist shaping.

Strathspey is worked in a super fine
(#1) yarn, but on slightly larger needles
than usual, yielding a lightweight yet
warm fabric, with just enough drape.
Choose your favorite sock yarn, or
another fingering weight yarn; shown in
Simply Sock Yarn, a lovely and durable
superwash merino/nylon blend that is

needle (cir), depending on selected
garment size, for body; preferred style
for small circumference knitting in the

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain
the correct gauge.

Gauge
28 sts/34 rnds to 4”/10 cm in pattern
stitch (7-st twisted st columns alternated
with 7-st St st columns); 24 sts/34
rnds to 4”/10 cm in St st, using larger
needles. Measure gauge on blocked
swatch.

Notes
The body is worked in the round from
the bottom up to the armholes; upper
front and back are worked flat. Shoulders
are joined using 3-needle bind-off.
Stitches for seamless set-in sleeves are
then picked up around the armholes,
and worked down; the sleeve caps are
shaped using short rows. Sleeves are
bracelet length (intended to end a
couple of inches above the wrist), and
are worked in the round from underarm
to cuff.

Pattern stitch instructions are given in
chart and Stitch Maps chart form (see
stitch-maps.com). Stitch Maps charts
do not have a grid, which means that
in stitch patterns with decreases and increases
that cause the rows of stitches to
curve, these curves can be shown on the
chart. Stitch Maps charts also show how
stitches in adjacent rows relate to each
other, so the finished chart looks very
much like the knitted stitch pattern.
