This is a free pattern on my crochet blog for a Granny Square throw with optional tassels. Approximate size 116cm square, but easily adjusted to make bigger or smaller. Based on the traditional Granny Square with a simple border.

Gauge 5 rounds of pattern = 10cm x 10cm, gauge is not critical for this project but may affect yarn quantities. I used a 3.5mm crochet hook in the sample.

I used a total of 11 balls of Stylecraft Special DK which included 4 of a joining colour and one each of a further 7 colours. Easily adjusted to include any number of colours you desire.
