Gerade wenn dir der Nordwind so richtig um die Ohren pfeift brauchst du einen extra kuscheligen Schal, der dich besonders warm hält. Und bei „extra kuschelig“ kommt mir einfach immer Zuckerwatte in den Sinn. Mit Wolle zu arbeiten, die genauso fluffig ist wie Zuckerwatte und die auch noch in zuckersüßen Farben zu haben ist, macht mich einfach glücklich.
Beim Stricken dieses Schals kam mir dann irgendwie Laminaria saccharina in den Sinn - eine Braunalgenart die (aufgrund ihres süßlichen Geschmacks) auch Zuckertang genannt wird und in Nord- und Ostsee vorkommt. Und somit war auch der Name für diesen Streifenschal gefunden: ZUCKERTANG. Ich hoffe, dieses Projekt versüßt dir die kalte Jahreszeit und hält dich bei deinem nächsten Strandspaziergang kuschelig warm!

ZUCKERTANG wird doppelfädig in der Runde gestrickt. Dadurch wird der Schal besonders warm und kuschelig. Doppelfädig bedeutet, dass du zwei Fäden gleichzeitig in der Hand hältst, also mit zwei Knäulen gleichzeitig strickst.
Du kannst für dieses Projekt entweder eine kurze Rundstricknadel, oder ein Nadelspiel verwenden.

Sometimes you just need an extra cozy scarf to keep you warm. Something made from extra soft and fluffy yarn. And I don’t know why, but the first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about soft and fluffy yarn is a picture of cotton candy. And while knitting on this scarf, thinking about fluffy yarn, cotton candy and other sweets, I suddenly thought of Laminaria saccharina, a brown algae found in the North- and Baltic Sea. This algae is also referred to as Sugar Kelp, because of its sweet taste. And that’s where the name for this striped scarf was found: SUGAR KELP.
I hope this project sweetens the cold season a little bit for you and helps to keep you cozy and warm during your next walk on the beach.

SUGAR KELP is worked in the round with the yarn held double. This means you’re working with two strands of yarn held together. By doing this, the scarf gets extra warm and cozy.
You can work this project either with short circular needles, or with double pointed needles.
