Knitting this sweater with the cable panel in the front has been a very peaceful experience. If you have a little stress you should give it a try. It is not difficult to knit – it only needs a bit of concentration while knitting the cable, but the easy diagram with a good overview in these instructions will keep you on track.

It is knitted in the round - top down - in one piece from start to finish. It is fast to knit and there are only a few ends to weave in when you have finished knitting.
The neck is shaped with short rows (which is very easy to do), the neck ribbing is done first and then short rows are used to shape the neck to make the front of the neck lower than the back, ensuring a good fit at the neck.

Gauge: 19 sts and 28 rows over 4 inches in stockinette st. on 4.5 mm (US 7) circular knitting needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. You can use a needle 0.5 mm smaller for the neck and bottom borders if you wish.
Yarn: In the sweater pictured, I used one thread of Blackhill Highlandswool together with one thread of Blackhill Superfine alpaca. Since 19 sts per 4 inches is a very common worsted/aran gauge, many different yarns will work for this sweater.

The advantage of knitting top down is that the sweater can be tried on along the way and the circumference can be adjusted with fewer or more increases at the raglan lines.

Finished measurement for 8 sizes from XS – XXL. Bust approx. 82 – 135 cm (32 - 52 in) The last 2 sizes 125 and 135 cm (50 – 52 in) will be as an appendix to this pattern, so be aware if you print it, which size you need.
