Introduction
The Striata Sweater is the warmer sibling of the Striata Top, with a higher neckline and long sleeves. It’s a lightweight, textured knit with an interesting yoke construction, consisting of traveling stripes.
It is worked top-down in the round. The neckline shaping is improved through short row-shaping.
The sweater has a split hem which is longer on the backside. This hem can easily be adjusted to a straight one, depending on your preference.
Sizes
(XS, S), M, (L, XL), 2XL, (3XL, 4XL), 5XL
The sample sweater has a positive ease of 5cm/2in around the widest part of the upper body. That means it’s rather fitted.
If you choose a size that’s 5cm/2in bigger than your bust circumference, this means the sizes of the sweater correspond with a bust circumference of (81, 90), 98, (109, 121), 130, (142, 147), 163cm / (32, 35.25), 38.75, (42.75, 47.75), 51, (56, 57.75), 64.25in.
If you are in between sizes, you can consider a somewhat tighter or looser fit, depending on your preference.
Yarn
(8, 9), 9, (10, 11), 13, (14, 15) skeins of Lamana Como (100% wool; 120m/131yds per 25g/0.88oz). The sample uses the colorway Light Grey Melange.
Use a lightweight yarn for the best result.
This is an indication of the yardage you need. Take note that adjustments in yarn and length will have an impact on the yardage you need:

- In yards: (974, 1076), 1160, (1250, 1363), 1504, (1653, 1755), 1942
Gauge
19 stitches x 39 rounds per 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches in 2/2 broken rib stitch after wet blocking.
Important! Take note that broken rib stitch grows after wearing or blocking, so make sure to wet block your swatch.
Needles and tools
- 3.5mm circular needles: 40 and 80cm / 16 and 32in, or the needle size to obtain the right gauge
- Stitch markers
- A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
- A stitch holder or lengths of waste yarn to hold sleeve stitches
Note: the sweater has not been test knitted in sizes 4XL and 5XL. Please contact me if you are interested in test knitting.
