How’s that? A yarn crawl? Yep - even if you can’t travel, or shops aren’t able to open yet, we’re on: the Slow Crawl is virtual again this year, too! That actually means you can join in from anywhere!
Get a passport from this shop or other participating shops (they’re $10)
Starting May 27th, visit all the shops - online, or safely in person
Each participating shop will give you the download codes for their pattern and a sticker or stamp for your passport (purchase required for virtual “visits”)
Fill up your passport, and be eligible for prizes!
Striations Mitts are designed as a short, fingerless mitt that covers the wrists and leaves your thumb and fingers free. Using a horizontal knitted rib stitch, these are stretchy and conform to the shape of your hand. The thumb gusset is created with short rows. The mitt is folded and sewn together to finish.
Note: To make a mitt with a longer cuff cast on more stitches. At the end of the rectangle after knitting the 7” begin the thumb gusset further to the left of the edge.
Difficulty Level: Adventurous Beginner
Size: Written for small and large, but easily resized.
Yarn: One skein superwash DK weight yarn. Shown in Jorstad Creek Chelan (DK weight, 100% superwash Merino; 231 yards (211 meters); in color Hopeful).
Needle: Size needed to obtain gauge; sample knit with US#6.
Gauge: Stitch gauge is 4 st = 1” and 10 rows = 1”
The fabric should be firm but not too tight, with enough stretch to fit comfortably.
Notions: tapestry needle, stitch markers
Skills: Knit stitch, yarnovers, knit through the back loop, slip stitches, short rows, grafting.
