String Bean Frog (with mime and ballerina variations)
String Bean is an easy project for any knitter, as are his variations -- String Beanerina, prima donna of the frog ballet, and Marcel le Moustasche, Paris’s most acclaimed frog mime.
The techniques that you’ll use are:
Knitting in the round on double pointed needles, increasing, decreasing, working an I-cord, and picot bind-off. (If you’re making Marcel, you’ll also need to needle-felt his mime make-up onto his face.)
As this pattern is for a toy, there really is no right or wrong gauge. I usually knit it with worsted weight yarn, but you can make a bigger toy with bulky wool, or a tiny frog with lace weight. It’s an excellent stash-buster!
